Healthy Eating & Access: Grant Proposals Requested

<October 5, 2016> The Community Foundation for Oceana County (CFOC) is pleased to announce the second round of a competitive grantmaking program, supported by a grant from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund. The goal of HEALTHY Oceana is to develop and strengthen the local food system to sustainably increase healthy eating and improve access to healthy food, especially among children and seniors living in poverty.  Cross-community projects are encouraged.

Grant requests must be initiated by nonprofit organizations, including schools, governmental units, faith-based organizations, and 501(c)3 nonprofits. Grant recipients will be organizations that serve residents in Oceana County, with special emphasis on low-income children and seniors. Existing Healthy Oceana grantees are welcome to apply for new projects, or expansions on existing grant supported projects.  Approximately $11,000 will be granted.  We envision supporting up to three projects.

An application of intent, submitted via the Foundation’s online eGrant system, is due by November 1, 2016. Final applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on November 15, 2016. The HEALTHY Oceana Community Advisory Council, made up of 6-7 members appointed by the CFOC Advisory Board, will make recommendations to the Board who will finalize grant award decisions.

Projects should be fully implemented, as described in the proposal, by December 1, 2017. Complete guidelines and applications instructions are located here.
