“It’s De-Lovely” at Little Point Sable Association Church
The Little Point Sable Association (LPSA) in Benona Township is again teaming up with the Community Foundation for Oceana County to host “It’s De-Lovely” — an evening of entertainment that is also an investment in Oceana County arts. The concert will be held beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, at the beautiful and acoustically fine LPSA “Stone” Church that’s located one mile west of Cherry Point Market near Silver Lake, at Buchanan Road and Stone Church Road.
This year’s concert brings a loved trio back again, Barry Ross on violin, singer Edye Evans Hyde and jazz pianist Terry Lower, performing an evening with Cole Porter and Friends. This is the 15th annual benefit concert, and all proceeds will be added to the association’s “Arts for Oceana County Fund” under management of the Community Foundation for Oceana County.
“It’s been an amazing partnership working with our friends at LPSA, most of them being second home residents here. They were looking for a way to make a positive impact in Oceana, a community they love and return to each summer. We are eager to develop similar partnerships with other associations to make a difference in this area too. Let’s have a conversation!” said Foundation Executive Director Tammy Carey.
“We had another fruitful year of fulfilling our mission with the concerts and granting to six local projects, totaling just over $6,500. Many thanks to everyone that contributes to the Fund, through your attendance and various levels of sponsorship at our annual concerts. A great investment year with the Foundation also helped us to benefit more programs”, said Roy Wilson, Concert Chairperson and LPS resident.
Grants awarded over the last year include:
• $2,919 – Thomas Read Elementary in Shelby, coding/music crossover STEM program
• $1,000 – Pentwater Arts Council, Movies on the Green equipment
• $1,000 – Pentwater Arts Council, bike rack contest design, Oceana County Student Art Show
• $1,000 – New Era Christian Reformed Church, farmer’s market music program
• $150 – Oceana Conservation District, County Birding guide for all libraries and schools
• $500 – Walkerville Public Schools, new student books in public and school library
The concert on July 28th is open to the public, but sells out every year, so patrons are encouraged to act quickly. Tickets ($30 each) and sponsorships (silver, gold, platinum or diamond) for the concert can be obtained by calling the Foundation office at 231-861-8335.
