Community Foundation’s Scholarship Application is Now Open

November 18, 2021 –  The Community Foundation for Oceana County’s scholarship application is now open and accepting applications until March 1, 2022. To be eligible, you must be a resident of Oceana County and a graduate of an Oceana public or private school. Scholarships are available for everyone; graduating seniors, current college students, even those looking to enter into an apprenticeship program- everyone should apply!

The Foundation manages the largest scholarship program in our area, with over 46 named funds covering vast criteria. From unrestricted scholarships to those supporting careers in education, agriculture, medicine, business, skilled trades and more, there is a scholarship for everyone. One general application is shared across all scholarship committees to determine eligibility.

November 1st-8th was Paying for College Week! The Foundation partnered with the Oceana CAN! (College Access Network) to host online workshops. A recording of the scholarship session, which covered tips and tricks to completing the application, how to search for scholarships, essay writing, and more including a brief walkthrough of the online submission platform is available on the Foundation website, listed below. Other sessions including understanding student loans, FAFSA 101, and more, will be available at oceanacan.org.

In 2021 Foundation scholarships equated to nearly $240,000 in commitments across 157 Oceana County students! Scholarships are awarded once per year. Recipients will be notified of their award in April and will be recognized at their high school awards ceremonies. Current college students will be notified by mail in May.
