Oceana Community Foundation Hiring AmeriCorps VISTA Service Member

June 2, 2021

The Community Foundation for Oceana County (CFOC) is excited to announce an opening for an AmeriCorps VISTA member. In partnership with the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), the Foundation will host a full-time, one year VISTA member, beginning August 16, 2021, to add organizational capacity.

The Foundation is experiencing rapid growth and has identified two new expansion opportunities.  The VISTA member will work simultaneously on two new goals: preparing for a capital campaign and the new Complete Your Degree scholarship program targeting adult learners and extra supports. The position revolves around promotion of these goals, and development of the background infrastructure needed to move these projects forward. The VISTA member will work on these projects, working closely with Foundation staff, board & committees.

Applicants should have a passion for giving back and a desire to work with a community development organization.  Members receive a modest living allowance, which includes a housing stipend.  Additional benefits include 20 paid days of leave, child and health care benefits, and multiple opportunities for personal and professional development.  Upon completion of one year of service, the member will receive their choice of $1,800 cash stipend, or $6,345 education award  towards payment of students loans, future education, or if over 55 years old, can be applied to child/grandchild’s higher education.

In past years, the Foundation has hosted four AmeriCorps VISTA members, and highly values the service and skills that VISTA members provide.  Members bring added capacity to a small staff, in order to launch new programs, and move goals forward. VISTA members can be individuals at the beginning, end, or middle of their careers – all are welcome to apply for the position. Join the Foundation team in beautiful Oceana County and from the Lake Michigan harbor town office in Pentwater to work on these fun new projects!
