Foundation welcomes Elly Bainbridge as Scholarships & Student Success Coordinator
The Oceana Community Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Elly Bainbridge as its new Scholarships & Student Success Coordinator. In this role, Bainbridge will coordinate the Foundation’s scholarship programs, support student success initiatives, and strengthen partnerships that empower students of all ages in the community.
Bainbridge brings extensive experience in education and student support, with 30 years dedicated to attracting students and creating pathways to higher education at Grand Rapids Community College.
“We are thrilled to welcome Elly to the Oceana Community Foundation,” said Tammy Carey, CEO. “Her commitment to student success and deep appreciation for the diverse and unique paths each student takes will be invaluable as we continue to expand opportunities for students in our community.”
In her new role, Bainbridge will facilitate the Foundation’s scholarship processes, guide students in exploring higher education and career pathways, and provide personalized support to scholarship recipients. She will work to remove barriers to success, collaborate with local schools and organizations, and lead efforts to expand outreach to adults seeking to upgrade their skills or change careers through our Complete Your Degree Program. Driven by a passion for student success, she is committed to making higher education more accessible and equitable in the region.
“I’m truly honored to join the Foundation and continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of students,” said Bainbridge. “After 30 years in education, my passion for helping students succeed has only grown stronger. The most rewarding part of this work has always been the relationships I’ve built with students. I’m excited to collaborate with students, families, and community partners to create opportunities for success and growth.
Carey added, “The Foundation has a strong tradition of investing in education to strengthen the community. In 2024, we awarded $294,000 in scholarships to 181 students and have 14 adult learners working towards certifications and degrees. Through its scholarship programs, the Foundation empowers students to pursue their dreams, and with Bainbridge’s involvement, we look forward to expanding our impact even further.”
